My Story

As a child, all I ever wanted to be was a mom.  But when the time came, I was terrified.  Despite attending childbirth classes, I had no idea what to expect, and I lacked confidence in myself.

Since 2014, I've spent a lot of time reading and learning, and getting acquainted with the many aspects of childbirth.  I've attended multiple workshops, supported many families, and earned certification with DONA International as a birth doula.

I don't wish anyone to fear childbirth like I did, and I believe that preparation and support can make it a truly positive experience.

My name is Maida, and I'm the mother of two not-so-little boys.  It's hard to find time for all my passions: I'm an avid knitter, gardener, and yoga enthusiast.  I also teach first aid, and currently sit on the board with the Calgary Doula Association.  In the past, I have also been a professional dancer, as well as a medical volunteer with St John Ambulance.
